2015 is the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The stereotype of the Battle of Britain fighter pilots is of a British upper class elite. This is far from the truth and Bob Doe, a gardener’s son who left school age 14, became one of the top three aces in the Battle. He is the subject of Helen’s latest book ‘Fighter Pilot’ and we welcome Helen back to the Festival for one of her popular entertaining talks.
