Edgar Wallace

About the Author:

Edgar Wallace, the creator of King Kong and some 175 other novels, was also a journalist. He spent part of the war years producing the story of Kitchener’s Army, reproduced here. He lived variously in England, South Africa and Europe. As well as his novels, some 160 films, and various short stories and twenty-five plays, he was also Britian’s very first sports reporter, reporting on the Derby in 1923. He died in 1932, heavily in debt, despite a £50,000 per annum salary. Dying in Hollywood, he received a hero’s funeral in London and is buried in Buckinghamshire.
