About the Author:

Clive Taylor is a member of the Alvis Owners' Club and lives in New Zealand. He has always had an interest in speed and competition in its various forms since boyhood. Riding a Claude Butler racing bicycle at twelve, an early BSA Bantam at sixteen, and then two Triumph Tiger 100’s. At nineteen, he enjoyed the thrill of being a sidecar passenger on a Triumph Bonneville outfit for a season and then racing a 125 c.c. ex-works water-cooled Bultaco in England.

Later he built an Alvis 12/70 Special CAX 233 with Albert Sparrowhawk and bodywork by Rod Jolley. He raced the car in the Isle of Man in 1989 on the Willaston Circuit, (part of the T. T. course), a Sprint on Ramsey Promenade and a Hillclimb from Hillberry past Creg -ny - Baa towards Kates Cottage.

Then he built an Alvis Speed 25 Special 3500 c.c. WP 9064, half way through, he immigrated to New Zealand, sold it to Brian Maile who finished the car and had ten years of successful racing.

In New Zealand he bought an Alvis 12/40 Tourer CT 1240, entered several R’Oil Can Rallies and the VCC International Rally in Invercargill 2006. Now he own an Alvis TE21 Saloon TE 21 S3, an ongoing rolling-road restoration.
