Kirstin Downey is an award-winning author and journalist, a veteran reporter at the Washington Post, who has also written for the New York Times, The Atlantic, the LA Times and Honolulu Civil Beat. At the Washington Post, she shared the Pulitzer Prize for the paper’s coverage of the Virginia Tech massacre, and was also nominated for a Pulitzer in 1998 for her ground-breaking articles on sexual harassment. She is the daughter of a ship’s captain and grew up in Panama and Hawaii. She is the author of two acclaimed books: THE WOMAN BEHIND THE NEW DEAL: The Life of Frances Perkins, FDR’s Secretary of Labor and His Moral Conscience, and ISABELLA: The Warrior Queen.
