About the Author:
Stephen Butt is a well-known local historian. After a career with the BBC, he now enjoys writing and research, with over twenty books in print combining local history with an interest in photography. Stephen's first degree was in Psychology and his MA degree is in English Local History.
During 2009/10 Stephen provided production support for Michael Wood's BBC television series Story of England for which he organised the Kibworth Dig involving local families digging more than fifty archaeological test pits. He also worked on Mayavision International's Great British Story: A People's History, broadcast on BBC2 and BBC4 in 2012.
Stephen has served as Hon Secretary of the Leicestershire Archaeological and Historical Society. In 2016, he provided the research for a series of Heritage Panels installed at locations throughout the City of Leicester. He holds the Certificate in Local Government Administration and is Parish Clerk for two parishes. He has also co-produced and directed corporate videos for local government. He lives in North Yorkshire.
